History and Population The history of Pepper Pike goes back to 1815 when sixteen pioneers settled in the area called Orange which included the present cities of Pepper Pike, Orange Moreland Hills, Hunting Valley, Woodmere. In 1820 a township was established with around 30-40 people who were mostly farmers. By the late 1880s cheese-making had become the primary industry of the area. In 1924, residents of northern Orange Township voted to separate, and the village of Pepper Pike was incorporated. Incorporated as a city in 1970, Pepper Pike operates under the mayor-council form of government. The population was 5,933 in 1970, increasing to only 6,177 in 1980, with the current population still around 6,200. Education Education has long been important to the residents of the Chagrin Valley. Many of the Chagrin Valley's schools are among the top-ranked schools in Ohio, and even in the country. Pepper Pike is part of the Orange School District, with 2 elementary, 1 junior high, and 1 senior high. It has excellent student-teacher ratio, and 100% of its high school seniors graduate, with over 90% who go on to attend college. Higher education in the area can be found at Ursuline College, a non-profit private institution. This college, with an enrollment of around 1400, offers programs that lead to bachelor's degrees, post bachelor certificates, and master's degrees. Closing or Settlement >Closing Paperwork
When you buy a house you are asked to sign an amazing number of documents, especially if you are obtaining a mortgage loan. It is prudent to read all of the papers before signing them, but it may not be practical to do this at the actual closing. There is a way you can read everything first without holding up the closing.
The title company should have the papers ready for your review several days before the closing, but sometimes the lender delivers the paperwork at the last minute. If you insist on reading the fine print on every page, you will probably draw some serious groans from the others at the table. One practical solution is to request copies of all of the standard forms a week before the closing, so that you can read them at your leisure. At the closing you need only to make sure that the information is filled in correctly.
